For those that I haven’t met yet, my name is Mike Corry and I am helping to lead the Boy’s Youth Committee for the Wilton Lacrosse Association. I’ve been involved with lacrosse in various capacities for the last 30+ years and this sport is a huge part of my life. I, along with the entire Boy’s Youth Committee, am committed to the success of our program and to the growth of your children as lacrosse players, and more importantly in how they grow as young men.
I also want to take this time to introduce Tony Vallance, who is our new Youth Director. Tony has been actively involved with the board for the past few months in developing programming and curriculum as we formulate our strategy for the spring. Tony will be involved in a variety of ways moving forward and if you get the chance at an upcoming lacrosse related event, please introduce yourself to him if the opportunity presents itself.
The Boy’s Youth Committee has been hard at work over the last few months in preparing programming, curriculum, calendars, events, and more as we lead into the 2017 Spring Season. Additionally, we educate ourselves on the newest model/recommendations from US Lacrosse on appropriate age/grade based programming, as well as learn from CONNY how they will be structuring their league play in 2017. Below you will find a number of updates that will provide some ‘state of the program’ type information, ranging from new programming, off-season updates, a calendar as we lead into Spring, and lastly a call for volunteers.
For many Travel grade parents, the question about evaluations/tryout timing has been raised by a few, so we wanted to inform everyone that the evaluations/tryouts for 2017 season will be in early March, with nothing slated for the Fall.
Please take a look at the attached, while we know it is a lot of information, the Boy’s Committee has put in a lot of time and effort in strategizing for this Spring and in turn want our players and parents aware of what’s going on with the program.
I want to close by saying Thank You to the families of our Wilton Youth Players. Without your dedication and generosity, this program would not succeed. I look forward to meeting many of you in the future and especially look forward to Wilton Lacrosse in Spring 2017 and beyond!
